Examination and Test Administration Processes
In June 2008, the Certification and Restoration Program contracted
with the Association of Boards of Certification to assist us
with examination development and examination administration. The
Association of Boards of Certification is a nationally
recognized organization devoted entirely to operator
certification issues. Currently, the services of the Association
of Boards of Certification are utilized by approximately 33
states within the United States.
The Association of Boards of Certification now administers our
licensure examinations nationwide on a computer based format. This
change in the way our examinations are administered allows us to offer
you greater flexibility and convenience when scheduling your examination
and allows you to receive your examination results before leaving the
testing facility. Furthermore, you may now submit your future
examination applications at any time. There will no longer be an
application deadline associated with the computer based examination
process.
Once your application has been reviewed and approved by the
Department, you will be mailed an examination approval letter. You will
then be able to schedule your exam on a date and time that is convenient
for you. Examinations are now able to be administered Monday through
Friday, and on at least one Saturday a month (excluding holidays). You
may schedule your examination via the web or over the phone.
In addition to the change from paper and pencil to a computer-based
format, some of our exam times have changed too. The examination time
for our Drinking Water and Wastewater Class A, B and C examinations has
changed from a four (4) hour examination to a three (3) hour
examination.
As always, it is our goal to continually improve our business
practices to better meet the needs of those we serve. If you have any
questions or would like any additional information regarding these
changes, please read our
