Certification Overview
The information listed below will assist you in applying for your
license. Please make sure that you included all pertinent information
along with your application. Once your application has been received it
will be reviewed for completeness. If your application has been deemed “incomplete”
you will receive a letter within 30 days advising you of any
deficiencies and any corrective action that needs to be taken. If your
application is “approved” you will receive a license and wall
certificate in about four weeks. You will not receive any other letter
regarding your approval.
Licensure Eligibility - To be eligible for operator licensure
the applicant must meet the following criteria:
Class D operator:
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Obtain a passing score on the Class D examination
- 3 months experience
or
- Document successful completion of the appropriate training
course no more than five years before the application submittal and
have at least one hour of experience under a certified operator in
lieu of the 3 months experience requirement
Class C operator:
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Document at least 1 year (2,080 hours) experience
- Obtain a passing score on the Class C examination
Class B operator:
- Have an active Class C license of the same type;
- Document at least 3 years (6,240 hours) of experience
- Obtain a passing score on the Class B examination
Class A operator:
- Have an active Class B license of the same type;
- Document at least 5 years (10,400 hours) of experience
- Obtain a passing score on the Class A examination
