Updated! - Computer Based Testing

Please be aware the Operator Certification Program (OCP) will be experiencing a temporary break in computer based testing services. We are currently in the process of procuring a computer based testing vendor in order that we may continue to offer you the same level of testing services. Look for an announcement on this website when a new computer based vendor has been selected.

Change of Address:  Donít assume!

During the last renewal cycle many operators did not receive their renewal notice due to incorrect addresses.   Please verify your mailing address and update it as needed. It is the responsibility of each individual operator to notify our office of your current mailing address. A change of address cannot be done over the phone, and requires you to fill out a change of address form, and then fax or mail it to the address provided on the form.

Attention!  GED Program

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Operator Certification Program, only accepts General Educational Development (GEDís) issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED Administrator.  In Florida, the approved GED Administrator is the Florida Department of Education through its network of public schools and adult education centers. (Please Note: Depending on your location some testing centers are paper or computer based.  Enter your zip code under Testing Center Information.)

Attention! You may now apply for your re-examination on-line!

  • CEU Requirements - If you have not completed your required amount of continuing education, you should begin making arrangements now! Please do not wait until the last minute when all classes are full and unavailable. You may search the status of your CEUís.
  • CEU Splitting - Please note that the splitting of CEUís is no longer allowed. An example of this would be a management course worth 4.0 CEUís. These CEUís cannot be split into 2.0 for water and 2.0 for wastewater if you are dually licensed. If you have any questions regarding this, please call the Certification and Restoration Program at 850-245-7500.

Venice wastewater treatment plantFlorida Statutes require anyone who operates a drinking water treatment plant or a domestic wastewater treatment plant to be licensed by FDEP. Beginning May 1, 2011, licensure for Water Distribution System Operators becomes mandatory. To qualify for licensure an applicant must meet minimum educational and work experience requirements for each class of license. A passing score is required on the exam for the type and level license desired.

You may now renew your license on-line and pay with your credit card. Itís fast and simple. In addition to using this site to renew your license, you may also check the status of your license(s) and CEUís in addition to verifying your current mailing address. All you need is your pin number which is printed on the renewal notice that was mailed to you.  Your employer may also use this site to renew your license(s) with the company credit card. Once your license has been renewed, we will mail your license to you within about 4-5 weeks.
