Permit and Conservation
Easement Siting
In order to
implement a fully effective permit processing Geographic
Information System (GIS) permit review staff must have the
ability to obtain accurate permit and conservation easement
site locations. In addition, obtaining accurate historic
permit and conservation easement site location information is
a critical need for DEP, the WMDs and the COE. Absent such
information it is impossible to retrieve useful GIS data as it
relates to a specific permit application or conservation
easement nor is it possible to begin to assess cumulative and
secondary impacts to a watershed from development activities
or develop adequate mitigation and conservation strategies. To
meet these needs this project has two major objectives:
- recording accurate
locational data for historic permits and conservation easements
processed from the Fall of 1992 to December, 1998 and incorporating
this information with siting that occurred for projects from
January, 1987 through September, 1992 to create a spatial data layer
to be used within a Geographic Information System and
- conducting a pilot
project designed to provide permit review staff with the ability to
receive and/or obtain permit and conservation easement location
information in boundary format.
