Background Hydrogeochemistry

The report is intended to portray the baseline for Florida's ground water quality. Future sampling results will be compared to these 1980's regional values. This publication is also referenced as Special Publication No. 34 of the Florida Geological Survey.

The background hydrogeochemistry, as determined from the results of the state-wide sampling of Florida's three aquifer systems from 1984 to 1989, is presented in maps, tables and summary analyses. Distribution of the physical and chemical parameters by aquifer and water management district is detailed in the maps. Descriptions include the importance and sources of the chemical constituent, the ground water guidance limits for drinking water, and the distribution and amounts found currently in the Florida's Background Network.
