Pledge Cards
The National America Recycles Day 2008 was a success. Over 18,000 pledge cards were received
from all over the State of Florida. All pledge cards received were entered into a drawing to
receive a $100 gift card, courtesy of Recycle Florida Today and one of three gift cards donated by
Publix Super Markets.
Florida Students
Recycle Florida Today, Creative Recycling Systems, Inc. and the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection hosted the FIFTH annual
Florida (K-12) Schools Recycling Pledge Card Contest.
This contest was designed to reward the three schools collecting the greatest number of recycling
pledge cards.
The three winning schools received a refurbished computer, courtesy of
Creative Recycling Systems, Inc.
In addition, Pamela Shlachtman, Chair of the Science Department at Miami Palmetto High,
will receive free registration to Recycle Florida Todays RFT annual conference for having
the most student participation. Karen Bryant, Pasco County School Board Recycling
Coordinator, will also receive free Registration to RFTs annual Conference for coordinating
the most school/county participation.
Forty schools across Florida participated in the America Recycles Day K-12 Pledge Card Contest.
The top three schools were:
- Miami Palmetto High (2558 pledges)
- Rockledge High School (1036 pledges)
- Coconut Palm Elementary (955 pledges)
