Florida DEP recommends the use of third-party certified electronics recyclers as the best way to ensure proper management and optimum recycling. Third party certification is given by an auditing body that sets strict criteria for end-of-life management for electronics. The two third party certifications available for recyclers are R2 and E-Stewards.

To find an R2 certified facility visit this website: https://sustainableelectronics.org/recyclers

To find an E-Stewards certified facility visit this website: http://e-stewards.org/find-a-recycler/

Section 273.055, F.S., specifies the order of preference for agency property custodians to follow in the disposition of state-owned personal property such as computers, monitors and other electronic products.

On July 20, 2014 the state term contract Recycling Services, End of Life Electronics Equipment - 991-705-09-1 expired. The Florida Department of Management Services will not replace this contract.
