Operation Cleansweep will accept and dispose only canceled, suspended and unusable pesticides. Pesticides that are
still usable should be used.
A pesticide is any substance or mixture of substances to prevent, destroy, repel, or mitigate any pest. Pests
can be insects, mice and other animals, weeds, fungi, or microorganisms like bacteria and viruses. Besides insecticides,
pesticides include herbicides, fungicides, rodenticides, miticides and various other substances used to control pests.
Fertilizers, nutritionals, animal medicines and biological control agents will not be accepted. Pesticides in gas
cylinders are not being accepted at this time either. Pesticides in aerosol cans, however, will be accepted. Paint, batteries,
and other hazardous wastes will not be accepted: contact your county solid waste department for information on disposal of these
hazardous wastes.
