The Waste Cleanup Section is
basically a "Mini-CERCLA" or Superfund Section. We work on
cleaning up sites with contaminated groundwater, soil, and/or surface
water. Most of our sites were contaminated prior to the enactment of
environmental regulations or the source of contamination is unknown. We
deal with a wide variety of contaminants, but the predominant contaminants
are solvent from drycleaners, paint manufacturers and industrial
degreasing operations, pesticides from old manufacturing facilities,
pesticide mixing areas and golf courses, fertilizer from manufacturing
facilities or accidental spills, coal tar from old manufactures gas
plants, metals from plating industries, and an assortment of contaminants
including methane from old landfills. We also deal with junk yards, auto
shredding operations, old lead battery waste, buried drums, etc.
