The Storage Tank Program in the Southwest District (SWD) office is a multifaceted program handling compliance, enforcement, petroleum cleanup, spill response, and contract management relating to pollutant storage tanks.
Specific activities conducted by staff in the SWD are:
1) Underground and aboveground storage tank (Chapters 62-761 and 62-762, F.A.C.) inspections at facilities owned by contracted counties;
2) Discharge prevention and response (Chapter 62N-16 F.A.C.) inspections;
3) Review of petroleum cleanup documents submitted, in accordance with Chapter 62-770, F.A.C., for all sites not eligible for state-funded cleanup in Citrus, DeSoto, Hernando, Manatee, Pasco and Sumter counties;
4) Enforcement related to all the above, as well as handling enforcement referrals from the contracted counties; and
5) Contract management of 5 Storage Tank Compliance Verification Contracts that encompass the 11 counties located in the SWD.
