•The South
Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) have an
operating agreement about which agency will process
Environmental Resource Permits (ERP) for particular projects,
based on the type of land use.
The FDEP Stormwater
Section handles ERP associated with
power plants, electrical substations, landfills, waste water
treatment, water treatment plants and projects
seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line (mainly
residential development).
The
ERP covers activities such as constructing flood protection
facilities, providing stormwater treatment and attenuation &
wetlands impact and mitigation.
It should be noted that the
NPDES Stormwater Program falls under a different set of
rules and regulations and is handled through our
Tallahassee Office.
