The responsibility of the Emergency Response Program is to respond to any incident or situation that represents an imminent hazard or threat of a hazard to public health, welfare and safety, or the environment.

Regional state on-scene coordinators investigate incidents of illegal dumping or discharging and criminal activities, supervise any subsequent cleanups by responsible parties and contractors hired by the State of Florida.  They provide incident assessment, hazard identification and recommend immediate actions to be taken to contain the spill.
