DEP's goal, and a goal of many residents and business owners, is to achieve compliance with environmental regulations to protect the resources that support our livelihoods and our ways of life. To help residents and business owners avoid fines and to protect Florida’s resources, DEP provides compliance assistance through site visits and technical support.

Air

Compliance Assistance for Air Regulations
Business owners or operators can request a site visit to help determine if your facility is in compliance with applicable federal and state air regulations. DEP staff will tour your facility, review records and help you address potential non-compliance items so that you can avoid fines.


DEP also provides compliance assistance through its Small Business Environmental Assistance Program. Staff will respond to questions about federal and state air regulations, and will help small businesses find assistance within DEP on other environmental matters.

Waste

Compliance Assistance for Hazardous Waste Facilities
Hazardous waste owners or operators can request a site visit to determine your facility's compliance with federal and state hazardous waste, used oil and universal waste regulations. DEP staff will tour your facility, review records and help you address potential non-compliance items so that you can avoid fines.


Compliance Assistance for Drycleaning Facilities
Drycleaner owners and operators can find links, brochures, check lists and other resources to help comply with rules and regulations.

Water

Training for Wastewater Operators
Wastewater operators can request training on the regulatory and reporting requirements of their operating permit. Subject matter can be tailored to a specific facility's needs.


Wastewater permit determination
Request a wastewater permit determination to find out if your facility requires a discharge permit.


Dock and Wetlands Permitting Assistance
Those buying or selling residential or commercial waterfront property can request a site visit from DEP staff to find out if docks meets state regulations. DEP staff will measure your dock, review permits and help you address potential problems so that you can avoid fines and meet due diligence requirements. Florida residents and business owners can also request a compliance assistance site visit from DEP staff in the Submerged Lands and Environmental Resource Permit Program. Staff will contact you within seven days of your request to arrange a visit.
