HERNANDO AND PASCO COUNTIES – Through efforts conducted by the Florida
Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Office of Greenways and Trails,
improvements to the safety and usability of the Withlacoochee State Trail will
take place beginning May 31, 2011.
Approximately six miles of the southern portion of the trail in Hernando and
Pasco counties, from the SR 50 Ridge Manor Trailhead to the Trilby Trailhead,
will be closed. Public access to this section of the trail will be fully
restricted. The Ridge Manor Trailhead will remain open to the public for trail
use to the north. The anticipated completion date for these improvements is
July, 2011.
The project involves paving of the approach ramps to the SR 50 bridge
overpass just south of the Ridge Manor Trailhead and stormwater pipe joint
repairs at a location on the trail between the Ridge Manor Trailhead and the
Trilby Trailhead.
