Community Will Unite to Give Tallahassee a Super-Clean Sweep

~Community cleanup for a cleaner, greener Lake Ella and year-round environmental stewardship~

TALLAHASSEE — In support of the 16th Annual Super-Clean Sweep, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Easy As One initiative will team up with Keep Tallahassee-Leon County Beautiful and community volunteers at Tallahassee’s Lake Ella on Saturday, February 26, 2011.

Volunteer cleanup activities will include planting trees, flowers and shrubs, painting over graffiti and picking up litter. DEP staff will be present to highlight the importance and simplicity of environmental stewardship in everyday life through proper disposal of compact fluorescent lights (CFLs), prescription medications and proper battery recycling, along with other sustainable habits.

Citizens are encouraged to stop by and drop off working or nonworking cell phones and retail plastic bags to DEP Easy As One staff for proper recycling. Those who do so will be given a free Florida State Parks day pass. To lend a hand with Tallahassee’s Super Clean Sweep, visit www.ktlcb.com.
