FORT MYERS – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP)
Easy As One initiative together with A Bag’s Life campaign and the Lee County
Sheriff’s office will host a free plastic bag, cell phone and drug take back
collection event at multiple locations throughout Lee County February 8 – 12,
2011.
DEP will collect retail plastic bags for proper recycling and cell phones
(working and non-working) and stray chargers to be donated to charity. The Lee
County Sheriff’s Office will collect unwanted medications for proper
destruction. Unwanted medication collection is anonymous and both prescription
and over-the-counter medications are accepted.
Participants who bring in 20 or more plastic bags, a cell phone, a charger or
medicine will receive a day pass to any Florida State Park. Limit one per
person, while supplies last.
