Manatee (n) An aquatic mammal found in tropical coastal waters.  

Mangrove (n) a tree that grow in saltwater along coasts in tropical climates.

Man-made (adj) made by people rather than nature.

Marine (adj) of or relating to the sea.

Marsh (n) a wetland that is mostly covered by grasses.

Melt (v) to change from a solid to a liquid, usually by heating the substance.

Meteorology (n) the science of the atmosphere, especially weather.

Mile (n) a unit of length that is equal to 5,280 feet.

Mineral (n) A naturally occurring, substance with a specific chemical composition and characteristic crystalline structure, color and hardness.

Mitigation (v) 1.) restoring, replacing, or creating ecological habitats (usu. wetlands) in one area to compensate for loss of natural habitats in another area due to development.

Molecule (n) the smallest particle of a compound that contains all the characteristics of the compound.

Motting (adj) marble-like pattern that occurs in soils where the water table fluctuates periodically.

Muck (n) sediment that comes from dying plants and animals.

Mulch (n) a layer of material (such as wood chips, straw and leaves) that is put around plants to hold in moisture and prevent weeds.
