The LIFE Suwannee River Valley project is a partnership between the Department of Environmental Protection and the
Suwannee County School District. Approximately 200 middle and high school students of Suwannee County have participated directly with the LIFE program, however the project impacts over 1,000 students from Suwannee Middle School, Branford High School, and Suwannee High School. Students participate in equipment intensive field lab activities at
Suwannee River State Park and Branford Spring at Ivey Memorial Park that focus on ground and surface water quality. Students use technologies such as data gathering probeware, multimeters, digital microscopes, and computer software to collect, interpret and share their data. Initial funding for the LIFE in the Suwannee River Valley was obtained from the Florida Department of Education's
Enhancing Education through Technology grant which focuses on closing the digital divide and improving students' academic achievement through the use of technology. |
