 The
LIFE Florida Caverns State Park (FCSP) Program is a
partnership between the Department of Environmental
Protection and
Dayspring Christian Academy in Jackson County. The
program targets students at Dayspring School and field
experiences involve a number of distinct field labs led by
DEP staff, volunteers and participating teachers. The field
labs address priority topics that have been identified by
the participating teachers and will use the unique natural
resources and ecosystems available at Florida Caverns State
Park to illustrate important concepts and principles in Life
and Environmental Science. The field experiences delve into
such topics as cave formations and karst features, the slant
of the sun’s rays as it relates to the seasons, and distance
vs. displacement. The program was initially funded through a
Florida Springs Initiative grant.
