Master old-time musician Mike Seeger will teach a workshop on playing the Jew's harp and harmonica. This workshop is appropriate for all ages, so bring your own Jew's harp and harmonica and join in the fun! Jew's harps are available from the Craft Shop at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center. Teachers that would like to pre-order instruments for their classes should call the Craft Shop at (386) 397-1920.

Bring your guitars to Roy Book Binder's Guitar workshop at the Florida Folk Festival. Everyone is guaranteed to learn something! Roy will be teaching 'licks and tricks that he learned directly from The Rev. Gary Davis and will explain how you will be able to use them to 'snaz' up the songs you already play. Learn the secrets of arranging blues and folk tunes at this special anniversary festival workshop.

Kaleinani Ohumukini and Teuruhei Buchin are professional dancers and teachers of hula and other Pacific Island dance forms. With musical assistance from Henry Ohumukini, Jr. and James Buchin, they will teach the basics of hula.

James Buchin is a professional musician and music teacher who has mastered the guitar, ukelele, Tahitian banjo, drums, bass and piano. Born in Tahiti, he comes from a family of musicians that composed many of today's best-known Tahitian songs. Florida Folk Heritage Award winner Henry Ohumukini, Jr. has been practicing Hawaiian traditional arts since he was a child and includes the ukelele among his accomplishments. Together they will be teaching a workshop on Pacific Island music, concentrating on Hawaiian ukelele and Tahitian banjo techniques.

Under the inspiration of Dragonfly Dale Crider, join us at the Ecology Mask Making Workshop & Wild Florida Species Procession. This will be a family friendly workshop to learn about Florida’s natural systems through a creative and artistic experience.

Animal totem wisdom, healing allies, clairvoyant, grandfather, destiny, psychic readings, Native American folk medicine, soul, earth changes, grandmother predictions, ecology, environment, songs & music, creative dramatics and dance: These are some of the concepts to think about and bring with you to the workshop and procession.

The mask-making workshop will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Suwannee River Gazebo. Bring your imagination and any fun materials you would like to use in the creation of your mask.

The Wild Florida Species Procession, where participants will display their creative works, will begin at 1:00 p.m. Participants will meet at the Suwannee River Gazebo and the procession will wind through the festival grounds, ending at the Seminole Family Camp at 2:00 p.m. with an Eco-Celebration featuring music and more.

Workshop Participants and others are encouraged to join in for the Wild Florida Species Procession, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Cheekee-chobee stage in the Seminole Family Camp and end at the Suwannee River Gazebo.

Sunday, May 26, 2002
Participants and visitors alike will have a final opportunity to experience the Wild Florida Species Procession and Eco-Gathering at 10:00 a.m. at the Suwannee River Gazebo. Follow the procession through the park to the Springhouse. Audience participation is encouraged, join in and experience the procession of wild critters!
