RE: Immediate Final Order for Phosphate Fertilizer Manufacturing Facilities [pdf]

The Department of Environmental Protection today issued an Immediate Final Order for phosphate fertilizer manufacturing facilities in preparation for the potential landfall of Hurricane Ivan along Florida’s west coast.

The Order directs facilities to protect public safety and the environment by stabilizing water storage areas and reducing on-site water levels, where necessary, to prevent an uncontrolled release of process water during high winds and rain.

For further information, please call the DEP Press Secretary Russell Schweiss at (850) 245-2112.
