District Offices Closed, Governing Board Meeting
Canceled Budget Hearing to be Held Tuesday by Teleconference
PALATKA, Fla., Sept. 6, 2004 - The St. Johns River Water
Management District will remain closed tomorrow, Sept. 7, due to the
impacts of Hurricane Frances.
The District’s headquarters in Palatka, service centers in Altamonte
Springs, Jacksonville and Palm Bay, and the Sunnyhill field office, are
closed. Please contact the service centers for information on their
reopening.
The regular meeting of the District’s Governing Board on Tuesday also
has been canceled. Time-sensitive contracts, permits and other issues
will be addressed by District Executive Director Kirby Green under his
emergency authority. Persons interested in specific Board agenda items
should contact the District’s Executive Office for an item’s status.
District headquarters may be reached by calling (800) 451-7106 or (386)
329-4500.
The Board will hold its first public hearing on the fiscal year
2004-2005 District budget at 5:05 p.m. tomorrow as scheduled. Board
members may participate by teleconference from the service centers or by
phone. Members of the media and the public are invited to observe the
meeting at District headquarters, 4049 Reid St., Palatka.
For interested members of the public who are unable to attend the
first public hearing on the budget, the final budget hearing will be
held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. at the District’s headquarters in
Palatka. Members of the public are invited to attend and comment.
