Statement by Governor Jeb Bush Regarding President Bush's Request for Emergency Funds

“On behalf of all Floridians impacted by Hurricanes Charley and Frances, I thank our friends in the Federal government for their help during this difficult time. Florida appreciates any support that will help meet our state’s most urgent needs and allow our response efforts to remain seamless. This funding will provide broad based help to all Floridians, from those who need housing to those who need loans to rebuild small businesses and homes. It will help farmers and farmworkers, businesses, families, elders and our most vulnerable. Finally, as we begin to assess the damage from Hurricane Frances, I appreciate the President’s and Congress’ consideration of enhanced relief to address specific needs from our most recent storm. Florida will rebuild, and with the help of our Federal partners, we will rebuild not only quickly, but also in a way that makes us even stronger than before.”
