Regarding Aid to Social Security Beneficiaries

TALLAHASSEE - "I thank Secretary John Snow of the U.S. Treasury Department for his support of Floridians during this challenging time. His request that Florida banks make Social Security funds available to individuals in our state ahead of the direct deposit schedule will ensure some of our most vulnerable residents have the resources they need to prepare for Hurricane Frances. Preparation saves lives, and this action is a blessing for millions of Floridians as they brace for the storm and make recovery plans for its aftermath.

"I applaud the Florida Bankers Association for answering this call so quickly. This action is a clear reflection of the strong trust and partnership between our state, our financial institutions, and our federal partners."
