The Bureau of Emergency Response (BER) Natural Resource Damage Claims
The Bureau of Emergency Response has recently submitted a claim to the U.S.
Coast Guard National Pollution Funds Center for natural resource damages
caused by 23 coastal oil spills occurring between 1992 and 1999. In
preparing the claim, we conducted a damage assessment and proposed
compensatory restoration activities. This information is contained in
three Damage Assessment and Restoration/Environmental Assessment Plans (DARP/EA).
The plans describe natural resource damages and identify
restoration projects to compensate for the resource damages.
