Division of State Lands Highlights
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Division of State Lands is Florida’s lead agency for environmental management and stewardship, serving as staff to the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund (Governor and Cabinet). As such, the Division’s role goes far beyond just acquiring lands for protection. It provides oversight for the management of activities on more than 12 million acres of public lands including lakes, rivers and islands. These public lands help assure all Florida’s residents and visitors have the opportunity to truly appreciate Florida’s unique landscapes. more Blackwater River

Rulemaking for Chapter 18-1, F.A.C., State Land Acquisition Procedures

The Department is conducting rulemaking on the following rules: ss. 18-1.002, 18-1.004, 18-1.005, 18-1.006, 18-1.007, and 18-1.013, F.A.C. This rulemaking includes the following subjects: To remove or revise definitions and terminology to reflect accurate terms; to provide for waivers of certain survey standards if warranted by certain conditions; and to allow for limited waiver of evidence of marketable title in accordance with statutes

Rulemaking for Chapter 18-2, F.A.C.,The Management of Uplands Vested in the Board of Trustees

The Department is conducting rulemaking on the following rules: ss. 18-2.017, 18-2.018, 18-2.019, and 18-2.020, F.A.C. This rulemaking includes the following subjects: The purpose of this rulemaking is to perform clean-up of the definitions, update land and conservation management plans in accordance with section 253.034(5), F.S., to provide for business plans in accordance with section 253.034(13), F.S., and to update competitive bid and exception procedures in accordance with section 253.034(6)(h), F.S.
