Blackwater Heritage State Trail
This 8.5-mile paved trail winds through the town of Milton and
ends at Whiting Field Naval Air Station. It is available for biking,
running, walking, roller-skating, and horseback riding. Other popular
activities are picnicking and bird watching. Motorized vehicles are not
permitted on the trail.
The trailhead is located on the corner of HWY. 87 and 90 in
Milton and contains a covered picnic shelter, restrooms, a water
fountain, and a bicycle rack. The visitor center is approximately one
mile from the trailhead and offers two picnic tables and parking.
The Blackwater Heritage Trail State Trail Citizen Support
Organization operates a concession at the visitor center where snacks
and souvenirs can be purchased. Benches have been located at various
points along the trail for visitor convenience. The equestrian parking
lot is located about halfway along the trail and can be reached by
vehicle along Munson Highway (RT 191). There is ample oversized parking
available, as well as a newly constructed picnic shelter. Bring plenty
of water with you because there are no facilities available north of
