October is Florida’s Greenways and Trails
Month—Time to Celebrate!

October is the perfect time of year to celebrate the health, wealth
and happiness to be found through Florida’s beautiful trails and
greenways and the nature-based tourism they support.
Governor Rick Scott has
proclaimed the month of October as Florida Greenways and Trails
Month.
The Florida Park
Service and its Office of Greenways and Trails
invites you to take part in this
signature program to highlight the benefits and value of the state’s
diverse trail network.
Trail-related activities throughout
the state will include festivities such as dedications, educational
exhibits, trail rides, paddling excursions, bird and butterfly viewing
programs, trail blazing and clean-up events will be listed on this
website and updated weekly. To register an event for Florida Greenways
and Trails Month, please submit a
registration form.
For more information call (850) 245-2052 or email

The
signature image for the 2011 Florida Greenways and Trails Month is
that of the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail—the
first state
rail-trail to be paved in Florida. After twenty years of service,
the Trail was recently resurfaced and widened. A ribbon cutting to
mark the reopening of the Tallahassee-St. Marks Trail will help kick
off Greenways and Trails Month.
