Request for USGS Topographic Maps

The Florida Geological Survey (FGS) does not distribute U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) topographic maps to individual users. Topographic maps are prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey and information on pricing and ordering is available at:
USGS Information Services
Box 25286
Denver, CO 80225
1-888-ASK-USGS or 1-303-202-4700
Fax: 303-202-4693
Additional ways to obtain USGS topographic products are:

  1. Information on identifying and ordering topographic maps may be obtained by visiting the USGS Online Store at http://store.usgs.gov/. A current listing of all USGS business partners and resellers is available at: http://store.usgs.gov/. Please contact the USGS business partner listed for information and product pricing.
  2. The Florida Resources and Environmental Analysis Center (FREAC – http://www.freac.fsu.edu) distributes the digital topographic maps through the Land Boundary Information System, http://www.labins.org which is a free web site for downloading USGS 7.5 minute quadrangles in TIFF format. You should also download the geographic information system (GIS) world file (TFW) to use these products in a GIS environment.
  3. TopoZone, http://www.topozone.com, is another useful site; however, it is a pay site. This website can provide accurate displays concerning a specific area and the price is reasonable.
  4. If you desire a quick method of acquiring high-quality paper maps, try Map Sport via http://mapsport.com. This site can provide paper topographic products for as little as $6.95 plus shipping and handling.
  5. If you need to have multiple topographic sheets from all over the United States then there is readily available software, one called TopoUSA available from Delorme (http://www.delorme.com/topousa), which usually costs around $99.95 and has all topographic quadrangles for the United States on DVD/CD.
  6. The Florida Geological Survey does not receive support or funding nor does FGS collaborate with these websites. The end-user takes on all risk associated by entering said web sites.
