Florida Geological Survey -
Events
On April 22 people around the world from local Governments, businesses, neighborhoods, schools and universities rekindle a public commitment to a clean environment.
The first official Earth day was held in 1970 with the mission of uniting the world toward a common cause of environmental protection and conservation.
This year celebrates the 34th Earth day and took place at the
Tallahassee Capital
building in the courtyard outside of the Capitol rotunda. Displays were setup by various agencies of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection . The Florida Geological Survey displayed it's GEOLAB
(see photo below), in which various earth science functions were provided for hands on use. Posters and brochures about
Florida Geology and the Florida Geological Survey were distributed to an interested public.
