The Florida Geological Survey (FGS) was established in 1907 to collect, interpret
and provide information about Florida's water, mineral and energy resources. Today our geoscientists continue this work alongside our focus on
environmental problem-solving, and geological hazards as they relate to public health and safety. We maintain Florida's geologic sample repository,
a research library, specialized laboratories, and field assets, all of which support accomplishment of our mission. Collaboration with partners in
the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida's water management districts and other local, state and federal entities ensures a
robust and cost-efficient approach to addressing Florida's geoscience needs.
