Deepwater Horizon Response Overview
Presentations given by DEP Secretary Michael Sole at various meetings and events in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Presentations give a broad overview, the status of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and update on Florida’s Deepwater Horizon response efforts. 

Signed Agreements
Agreements between BP and the state of Florida for money awarded to Florida for preparation, response and advertising due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

NOAA Trajectory Forecast

As of August 23, 2010, trajectory maps are no longer being produced. Trajectory maps produced by NOAA OR&R during the course of this spill are available in the Trajectory Map Archive.

NOAA Mapping Tool for Oil Spill Response
GeoPlatform.gov/gulfresponse is a new online tool that provides you with near-real time information about the response effort. Developed by NOAA with the EPA, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Department of Interior, the site offers you a “one-stop shop” for spill response information. The site integrates the latest data the federal responders have about the oil spill’s trajectory with fishery area closures, wildlife data and place-based Gulf Coast resources — such as pinpointed locations of oiled shoreline and current positions of deployed research ships — into one customizable interactive map.

Education

NOAA Oil Spill Education Resources
NOAA has created a website providing information for educators. The site provides links to other websites, multimedia and multiple other resources. In addition, the site provides lesson plans on topics related to the oil spill.

Oil Spill Academic Task Force
The Oil Spill Academic Task Force will bring together resources of Florida's academic institutions to assist the state of Florida and the Gulf region in preparing for and responding to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The task force consists of scientists and scholars working in collaboration with colleges form the State University System as well as private colleges.

The following material was compiled by DEP’s Office of Environmental Education for formal and non-formal educators. The list focuses primarily on resources relevant to educators and students (primarily K-12). While care has been taken to review most of the material presented, teachers should use their best judgment and discretion in the selection of materials for use with their students. This is not to be considered a comprehensive list of resources for educating students about the oil spill.
