NOAA Mapping Tool for Oil Spill Response
GeoPlatform.gov/gulfresponse is a new online tool that provides you
with near-real time information about the response effort. Developed
by NOAA with the EPA, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Department of
Interior, the site offers you a “one-stop shop” for spill response
information. The site integrates the latest data the federal
responders have about the oil spill’s trajectory with fishery area
closures, wildlife data and place-based Gulf Coast resources — such
as pinpointed locations of oiled shoreline and current positions of
deployed research ships — into one customizable interactive map.

Teacher and Student Resources
[PDF - 108 KB]
The following material was compiled by DEP’s Office of Environmental
Education for formal and non-formal educators. The list focuses primarily on
resources relevant to educators and students (primarily K-12). While care
has been taken to review most of the material presented, teachers should use
their best judgment and discretion in the selection of materials for use
with their students. This is not to be considered a comprehensive list of
resources for educating students about the oil spill.
