www.GeoPlatform.gov/gulfresponse is an online tool
providing near-real time information about the response
effort along the Gulf of Mexico coastline. Developed by NOAA
with the EPA, U.S. Coast Guard, and the Department of
Interior, the site offers a “one-stop shop” for spill
response information for all effected states. The site
integrates the latest data responders have about the oil
spill including fishery area closures, wildlife data and
place-based Gulf Coast resources — such as pinpointed
locations of oiled shoreline and current positions of
deployed research ships.
SCAT Team of reported oil impacts in Florida can be found
on this map in near-real time. Simply zoom into an area of
the coastline, click on the lowercase 'i' icon in the top
left corner, then click the red, yellow, blue or green area
on the map for more information. A
video tutorial on how to use the map is also available.
