  • Reef Building Days
    Feb 13, 15, 27 (8 am - 12 pm)
    Bayou Grande, where Polk Avenue dead ends, Pensacola, FL
    Join Northwest Florida Aquatic Preserves and Escambia County for oyster reef building as the first step towards a living shoreline.
    Please RSVP to Zach Schang (850) 595-0599 or Zachary.Schang@dep.state.fl.us.
    What to bring/wear: Close-toed shoes, sunscreen and gloves (we have extra for those needing them).
    What you will be doing: You will be helping to build 39 nearshore oyster reefs along an eroding waterfront on Bayou Grande. Each reef consists of ~200 bags of oyster shell that weigh ~20 pounds each. You will get wet!

  • Shoreline Cleanup at Project Greenshores
    Mar 19 (8 am - noon)
    The turnoff is just before 3 Mile Bridge, across from the Welcome Center.
    This event will be a cleanup along Project Greenshores. This cleanup will beautify approximately 2 miles along Pensacola Bay. Please bring a water bottle and closed toe shoes, as well as sunscreen and hat if you would like. For more information, contact Zachary Schang - Zachary.Schang@dep.state.fl.us or (850)595-0599.
