The Florida Public Archaeology Network and the Crystal River Preserve State Park are excited to offer a
five day camp session for kids ages 7 to 11. These camps provide interdisciplinary programs to engage Citrus
County's youth in learning about archaeology, history, wildlife ecology, social responsibility, and respect
for the environment. Many of these educational programs meet Florida's Sunshine State Standards for education.
If interested, please apply by May 28th, 2013. No late registrations will be accepted. Cmapetrs need to bring their
own bagged lunch and snacks! Cost: $85.00 per camper. Due at registration.
The curriculum includes a watershed demonstration by Southwest Florida Water Management District, prior to a boat
tour through the different ecosystems along the Crystal River. The watershed demonstraiton is designed to show the
students where water goes from different points of origin. The boat tour will then give them a firsthand look at
some of these areas (i.e. salt marsh, oyster bars, etc.) Staff will be pointing out wildlife and vegetation to the
group throughout the tour. The afternoon will conclude with estuary-themed games and fish screen painting on t-shirts!
We are accepting 20 kids so reserve your spot fast. Please call Jason Moser at (352)795-0208 for more camp information,
including lists of activities and registration forms.
