Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR) contains
one of the few relatively undisturbed mangrove estuaries remaining in
North America.

The waters and uplands of RBNERR provide habitat for
over 200 species of fish, 150 species of birds and other wildlife, including
the West Indian manatee, least tern, and loggerhead sea turtle.

RBNERR protects over 110,000 acres of mangroves, salt
marsh, open water, freshwater marshes and other coastal
natural communities.
