This training provides landscape professionals with knowledge of environmentally sound turf grass
and landscape management practices. Attendees gain the tools and skills necessary to minimize the
environmental impacts of non-point sources of pollution related to their business practices, to
conserve and protect Florida's water resources. The program promotes careful consideration of plant
selection, irrigation, fertilization and pesticide application that does not compromise Florida's
environment. It was jointly developed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP),
the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) and the private
industries related to landscape maintenance, called the "green industries." This training is
required by the City of Naples [Ordinance 08-11972], Collier county [Ordinance 11-24] and the City
of Marco Island [Ordinance 08-15] for landscapers to legally work within their limits and by most
neighboring municipalities in Southwest Florida. This class fulfills the statewide Commercial
Fertilizer Applicator Certificate requirement issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and
Covers turfgrass management, landscape plants, irrigation basics and pesticide handling.
CEUs: 4 FDACS, 4 FNGLA, 4.5 CFE, 4.75 APA and up to 5.75 ISA.
The training costs $30 and includes class materials, light breakfast and lunch.
