Resource Management
The resource management program focuses around restoration projects such as the Island Enhancement
Program and Shoreline Restoration Program. These volunteer-based program improves public access to
spoil islands and promotes habitat restoration by removing exotic and invasive plants and planting
native vegetation. Mangrove plantings is the primary method for shoreline restoration, but the
research program is looking into methods to improve results. Five seagrass restoration projects
have been identified and designed.

Education and Outreach
Due to limited staff in an extensive region, the education and outreach program is centered around
educational signage. Education programs include on and off-site education and
training activities and volunteer coordination and outreach.
