Cockroach Bay is the least disturbed part of Tampa Bay which makes it popular among nature lovers. Canoeing, kayaking, swimming and nature observation are popular throughout the preserve. Little Manatee River State Park offers camping facilities, hiking and equestrian trails, picnicking, fishing and canoeing/kayaking. There are also paddling trails along the Little Manatee River and throughout the preserve.
