 Florida Coastal Training Program - Apalachicola

Major goals of the Coastal Training Program (CTP) are to:

  • Share current science regarding coastal watersheds, estuaries and nearshore waters with decision-makers,
  • Increase understanding of the environmental, social and economic consequences of human activities and decisions on coastal ecosystems.
  • Help Coastal Decision-Makers make and implement better informed decisions affecting coastal ecosystems and coastal resources.

"Coastal Decision Makers" are:

  • Regional and local individuals who make decisions about coastal resources on a regular basis in a professional or volunteer capacity.
  • They include elected officials, land use planners, regulatory personnel, coastal managers, agricultural and fisheries interests, volunteer boards, contractors, consultants, non-profit agencies and organizations and others.

CTP Activities

  • Coastal Management Workshops and Field Studies for decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Guest lectures
  • Needs Assessment and Market Analysis to aid in expanding and improving training programs
  • Strategic Planning and Marketing Plan to guide and promote CTP programs
  • Technical assistance and networking
