Research Reserve Reports Mid-Season Record for
Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nests
(8/24/10) - To date, there have been 230 loggerhead sea
turtle nests, nearly double the previous highest season
numbers and there are two months to go. Nests are in
need of adoption.

improvements, invasive plant management and restoring
coastal scrub.

DEP'S Pumpout Project Offers City of Miami's Dinner Key Marina Cost Efficient Option to Protect Biscayne
Bay (3/3/10) - Funded through the DEP Clean Vessel
Act grant program, the marina used grant funds to
purchase a pumpout boat that will offer free services at
the marina and the recently opened 225 vessel municipal
mooring field.

Federal Grant
(1/15/10) - The Department's Office of Coastal and
Aquatic Managed Areas was recently awarded a grant in
the amount of $831,990 for the protection and
restoration of Money Bayou.
