Description:
The Ocean Conservancy will host a one-day workshop
within the Archie Carr NWR to educate residents, visitors, and other
interested parties about sea turtles and the important role the Refuge
plays in their survival. The Ocean Conservancy will disseminate the
workshop proceedings to other communities where sea turtles are threatened
by development. The Ocean Conservancy will also create educational displays
and a brochure for the new Barrier Island Ecosystem Center

Description:
This management tool has guided the restoration
and preservation efforts for the past 5 years. This project seeks to
extend the value of this tool for the next 5 years, providing a continuum
for a proven product as well as an example that our neighbors to the
north in Alabama can use for their own efforts. FCMP funding will be
used to enhance the document with GIS mapping, graphics, and photos,
and to make it available on a website to the general public. This funding
will also provide for additional printed copies and a CD version of
the document in order to increase its use throughout the watershed.

of shoreline in the Indian River Lagoon over the course of one year.

Funds will be used to address and champion a
community based ?hands on? program to enhance and restore coastal water
quality and reduce coastal pollutant loading in the targeted estuarine
systems. A volunteer shoreline revegetation and waterway debris removal
program will accomplish this goal. Funds will be used to support a part
time stewardship team leader, coordinate and utilize student and community
volunteers to accomplish project tasks, purchase plant materials and
create an information kiosk describing the community benefits of protecting
fragile coastal and estuarine ecosystems.

Description:
Grant funds will be used for the construction
and installation of new restroom facility, new pavilions, playground
equipment, lighting, park benches, picnic tables, and trash cans. Completion
of the basic support facilities and amenities proposed in this project
will directly benefit the local boating community by providing resources
that will serve and enhance the boating experience. Priority will be
given to the new restroom building, with added facilities and handicapped
accessibility, and lighting to provide safety and aid in deterring potential
vandalism.

Funding for Beachwalk Pasley would allow the
county to meet goals set forth in the local comprehensive plan by enhancing
public access to valuable natural areas. The development of Beachwalk
Pasley will link two other publicly owned beachfront sites that are
currently operated and managed separately. These two sites along with
the Beachwalk Pasley project will form sixteen (16) acres of public
coastal property.

of a dune crossover at John Brooks Park. The dune crossover will provide
both public access to the beach and protection to the dune vegetation.
The dune vegetation provides necessary nesting habitat for endangered

The City of Clearwater?s goal is to provide fifty
percent more boaters than last year the opportunity of using the facility
to access the Intercostals Waterway by extending the existing dock eighty-four
feet long. Both docks will have floating gangways and floats in order
for boaters to enjoy access to the water without damaging sensitive
sea grass beds.

Description:
This project will enhance existing local GIS
capability with additional GIS hardware, software, and training to enable
the local government to furnish ongoing support and necessary information
to the Panacea Waterfronts Florida committees on existing resources.
The GIS analysis will identify resources that would be impacted by economic
development projects outlined in the revitalization plan and identify
best management practices relevant to these resources. This project
will increase the community?s expertise in using best management practices
through the development of a best management practices resource document/handbook
specific to the Panacea community.

FCMP will provide funding for the analysis of
sediment quality. The results of the analyses will be summarized and
reported showing whether the sediments are above expected background
concentrations for metals, and whether there might be any biological
effects associated with metals and organic concentrations using the

final format using maps supported by GIS.

Description:
This project will provide funding to DCA to be
subcontracted to the three Waterfronts Florida communities designated
in 2003 for their first-year of waterfront revitalization projects.
On July 31, 2003, the Secretary of Community Affairs designated new
Waterfronts Florida Partnership Communities to begin the two-year technical
and financial assistance program. The following communities were selected:
the City of Apalachicola in partnership with the Apalachicola Bay Chamber
of Commerce, the City of Melbourne for the Olde Eau Gallie Riverfront,
the City of Daytona Beach in partnership with the Daytona Beach Partnership,
and the City of Crystal River. The first three communities will receive
planning grants in the amount of $25,000 during the 2003-05 and 2004-05
State of Florida Fiscal Years with funds from this grant. The Department
will use its own funds to provide financial assistance to the City of
Crystal River.
