DESCRIPTION:Funds were used to meet water quality treatment requirements set by the state, develop wetland enhancements (in the form of a stormwater treatment pond), remove nuisance vegetation, and create other park amenities desired by local residents consistent with the Comprehensive Plan requirements within the Del Oro Subdivision.

DESCRIPTION:A beach parking plan was developed to comply with the Volusia county comprehensive plan. The plan specified the acquisition and development of property to provide vehicle parking and public access to Volusia County beaches. A geographic information system was used to evaluate various location-specific data, including sea turtle nesting sites, to determine optimal public access sites.

DESCRIPTION:The Joint Center for Environmental and Urban Problems, with assistance from the FCMP, moved the Waterfronts Partnership initiative from its initial planning stages (FY 95-96). The outcome of this project developed specific models for state-local partnerships to revitalize working waterfronts, completed and agenda of technical and financial assistance needs for each type of waterfront, and recommended methods to implement these models.

DESCRIPTION:This project ensured the review of state agency rules for consistency in designated Areas of Critical State Concern. The project focused on preparing a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Community Affairs and the Department of Environmental Protection, identifying specific rules to change and establishing a time line for completion. Interagency committees were established to determine what changes were necessary to the identified rules.

DESCRIPTION:The problem of nutrient enrichment of the nearshore waters of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary was addressed by the demonstration of alternative onsite sewage treatment and disposal system technologies with the potential to reduce nutrient loading form effluent discharge. This project continued the monitoring and analysis performed in earlier subgrant periods.
