Stormwater
is rainwater. It's rainwater and anything the rainwater
touches. Rain that falls on the roof of your house, collects on
paved areas like driveways, and roads, or runs off your yard is carried
away through a system of pipes usually into lakes, streams, oceans and
estuaries.
Never
put anything into a storm drain. These drain into our lakes,
streams and surface water.
There
are three main types of Stormwater Pollution:
- Litter, such as cigarette butts, cans, paper or plastic bags
- Chemical pollution, such as detergents, oil, fertilizers and
pesticides
- 'Natural' pollution, such as leaves, garden clippings or animal
droppings.
