coastal birds

Shoreline stabilization

Serve as storm buffers by
reducing wind and wave action in shallow shoreline areas
The
1996 Mangrove Trimming and Preservation Act (403.9321 - 403.9333
F.S.)
- Provides protection while allowing a view for waterfront property
owners.
- No
defoliation, removal or destruction of mangrove trees.
- Authorization from DEP may be required before mangroves are trimmed
- You
may need to hire a certified, professional mangrove trimmer, depending
on the size of the mangroves
- Proper
Trimming is important because improper trimming kills mangroves
