After co-owning a courier service business with my father for five years, I decided to make a career change. The environment is very important to me, so working for the Department of Environmental Protection was an easy choice, and its mission is one I proudly support.

I have worked in the revenue section at DEP for three and a half years. My job involves supervising and assisting with recording the receipt of funds from individuals, businesses, DEP program areas and Florida State Parks. I also interact with our State Parks and program areas daily to ensure their revenue is applied correctly.

Because I love working with numbers, every day is interesting. The challenging issues and the interaction with our program areas are what I enjoy most about my job. If asked what I like most about working at DEP, I would have to say it’s the people. At DEP I feel respected by both my peers and my managers. My most memorable experiences since coming here include witnessing our section pulling together as a team to get the work done, whatever that may be.

Making the career move to DEP has offered me a structured lifestyle and the ability to leave work at the office. I feel there is no better family to work for than the DEP family.
