Air General Permits - Asbestos Manufacturing and
Fabrication Facilities
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has established an Air General Permit (i.e., a permit by rule) at Rule 62-210.310(5)(j), F.A.C. (Florida Administrative Code), for asbestos manufacturing and fabricating facilities that are subject to the federal requirements of Title 40 Part 63 of the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR 63), Subparts A and M. Eligible asbestos manufacturing and fabricating facilities are not required to use the Air General Permit, but instead may choose to obtain a regular air operating permit. The Department, however, expects the Air General Permit process to be less costly and burdensome than the regular permit process.

Asbestos Manufacturing and Fabrication Air General Permit Example Worksheet [Fill-able PDF -26kb] is available. Asbestos manufacturing and fabrication facilities are eligible to operate in Florida under the terms of an air general permit pursuant to the requirements of the applicable
Florida Rule 62-210.310(5)(j) F.A.C.
Effective June 29, 2011 all Air General Permits
will have a $100 registration fee. The duration of the registration is
for 5 years.
