Air General Permits - Animal Crematories
An animal crematory is a facility containing one or more combustion units, known as cremators, used solely for the cremation of dead animals within appropriate containers. Cremators are usually made of high-grade steel plate and lined inside with heavy refractory tile or brick. Most cremators have a variety of automatic controls and use gas for heating the cremator.
Rule
62-296.401(6), F.A.C. specifies that animal crematories be designed and operated for optimum combustion. Continuous temperature monitors, and automatic control combustion system based on continuous in stack opacity measurements are also required at all animal crematories to provide assurance of proper operation at these facilities.
