Corner of TabRetail Collection & Recycling of Fluorescent Lamps Corner of TabHighlights

Small and large retailers across the country are providing a convenient fluorescent lamp collection and recycling service to their customers. Store managers generally find these programs to be simple, successful and “the right thing to do.” This service also benefits the retailer by increasing foot traffic, generating positive attention in the local media and promoting the sale of energy efficient fluorescent lighting.

In a 2008-2009 project funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 8, the Product Stewardship Institute (Boston) surveyed retail store managers that provide fluorescent lamp collection and recycling services to their customers to develop strategies for the safe and simple implementation of such services.
