Community Education Programs at GTM Research Reserve Quick Topics

A variety of educational activities and programs are available at the GTM Research Reserve. Activities emphasize knowledge of, appreciation for and interaction with natural resources. Seining, lectures, nature walks, nature movies, laboratory and exhibit hall experiences and craft sessions are among the many ways to learn about the environment at GTM Research Reserve.

Adult and Community Outreach Programs

Teacher Workshops: Field and indoor activities to prepare teachers to bring classes to GTM Reserve and enhance student achievement in ocean and estuarine literacy. Teaching materials and in-service credits available.

Sustainable Living Program: This program educates local residents about sustainable living practices including reducing waste, water conservation, and much more. Call for class schedule.

Coastal Training Program: The Coastal Training Program provides scientific information and skill-building opportunities to individuals who are responsible for making decisions that affect coastal resources. Through this program, the Reserve can ensure that decision-makers have the knowledge and tools needed to address critical resource management issues. Elected officials and professionals participate in workshops and activities to better understand how decisions today will affect our community tomorrow.
